Criminal Justice B.S. Online Program FAQ

Enrollment and Registration

Students who have earned an associate degree in criminal justice at a CUNY Justice Academy partner campus.
To enroll as an online student, you need to complete these steps:
  1. attend an online degree program information session
  2. Confirm you want to enroll in a 100% online degree at John Jay College
  3. Participate in an advisement session to select courses and you will be enrolled in courses
  4. Review your course schedule in CUNY First
If you decide you want to attend on campus or in person courses, you will no longer be considered part of the online degree program. If you attend courses on campus, you also have the option to take courses online, but availability of online sections is not guaranteed.
Online degree program students will not be required to come to campus. If you wish to access campus for use of the library or other services, you can obtain a John Jay College ID. Online students have to meet the same requirements as in person students to obtain a John Jay College id.
You will be invited to an academic advising to select courses as a part of your transition to John Jay College. Online degree program advising takes place online in group and individual sessions, depending on your needs. Once you are enrolled, you will also have the support of a peer coach and advising from staff and faculty members at John Jay.

 

Program Techs and Financial Aid

You can use the resources available at this website to determine the Tech of your degree, and how financial aid or other sources of funding for your education fit in. https://www.jjay.cuny.edu/evaluate-college-Tech-financial-aid-packages-and-student-budgets In state students pay the same tuition rate as on-campus students. Yes, if you are eligible for Pell Grants (federal student aid) or TAP funds (NY State aid), you can use these to cover the Techs of an online degree.
Students enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester will pay:
$75 infrastructure fee
$15 facilities fee
$125 technology fee
Part Time students pay a technology fee of $62.50
You will not be able to register for a new semester if you have an outstanding balance. Technology

A typical home internet connection, wifi hotspot, or other standard connection will work just fine. If you need support accessing technology to complete your studies, please contact your advisor.
You will complete all your courses using Blackboard.
