Financing Your Education
A degree at John Jay College of Criminal Justice is one of the most affordable in the country.
But if you find it difficult to cover the full cost, our Financial Aid office is here to assist you!
To qualify for federal aid, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1. For more information about financial aid opportunities, please visit the John Jay College Financial Aid website for Graduate Students or Undergraduate Students, or visit the CUNY Financial Aid website.
We’ll work with you to find and apply for a wide range of financial aid opportunities from federal, state, local, and private sources. Although many scholarships and research opportunities are available to academically gifted students and students in need, you may also be eligible for one or more of the following options:
Loans
Many federal loan programs are available to undergraduate and graduate students, including Perkins loans, Stafford loans, and Graduate PLUS loans. If you don’t qualify for these loans, or if they don’t fully cover your costs, you may be eligible for alternative loans from a private bank or lender.
Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
New York State residents are eligible for TAP grants if attending an in-state college or university full-time. Part-time students with disabilities are also eligible for TAP grants. Awards range from $250 to $2,300 per semester. The TAP code for John Jay College is 1414. (TAP is only available for undergraduate students.)
Veterans' Benefits
John Jay College has many financial aid programs for active military and veterans. The GI Bill gives out awards to active-duty military and those in Selective Reserve. Supplemental Veterans Tuition Awards go to New York State residents who have served in the military and are enrolled full-time or part-time.
Employer Tuition Reimbursement
Many employers offer tuition reimbursement programs for employees earning a degree related directly to their current field. Contact your Human Resources manager to find out whether you may qualify.
